Alone in the Dark preview

Wii kontrole

The new Alone in the Dark has been in development for at least three years, so whilst not quite stuck in development hell, it’s certainly taken longer than expected to be buffed and polished. The fact that we recently received a copy of the game to take for a spin is proof that the July release date is for real this time. But is the return of Edward Carnby worth celebrating? Is this a true re-birth for the series? Will we ever forget the horrid Uwe Boll movie?

Bully: Scholarship Edition - prvi utisci

The Wii version also looks better than the PS2 original, but not by much. What the Wii version does have is its motion controls. Bully Producer Jeronimo Barrera made it clear that they didn't want to go nuts with waggle controls, instead using mostly analog and button inputs, but they did demonstrate one of the motion uses: sending fists flying.

The mini-games mimic the school lessons that Jimmy has to attend daily. The idea of Biology, for example, is for the player to make incisions on a random animal and extract its organs, as quickly and accurately as possible. In the example shown, I saw the innards of a duck being hacked to pieces as someone tried in vain to pull out its little heart.

• The main character, the secret apprentice of Darth Vader, is played by Sam Witwer, BattleStar Galactica's Crashdown
• He holds his lightsaber behind his back in a way that looks very unorthodox but pleasingly menacing, and also allows players to see the entire lightsaber since the camera is always behind the player.
• Boss bottles will be huge in scope, including a Rancor fight. There will be God of War-like button-tapping sections at the end of the battle, but it will only be for more points; you won't lose a battle by missing a button press
• There will be character and lightsaber customization, although you won't be able to dual-wield or have dual-bladed lightsabers
• The Wii version of the game will include a two-player duel mode where you can show off your lightsaber skills against a friend in the same room.
• The PSP version will contain classic scenes from other Star Wars movies with the more over-the-top force powers of Unleashed
