Dragon Blade: Wrath of Fire - IGN reader review

Personally, I think it takes a lot of guts to make a game like this. Original IP, zero budget, no buzz, on a system that is best known for it's "casual" (and I say that with the greatest pain) rather than hack and slash fun. Do your self and D3 Publishing a favor and buy this game. You will have a ton of fun, and you'll be supporting future games just like it, which, with a better budget, will no doubt be even bigger and badder.

Fifa 08 - review

At first glance, the Wii version of FIFA 08 might seem like the poor cousin compared to EA's latest PS2 and Xbox 360 offerings. After all, it doesn't feature the much-touted Be A Pro Mode and there's no skill moves to pull off with the right analogue stick - because, obviously, the console doesn't actually have one. Instead, FIFA 08 kicks off on Wii complete with arm-waggling manoeuvres, quirky mini-games and a Mii-like Ronaldinho with amusingly large teeth. But, you know what? Rather than a cynical attempt to appeal to the Wii-mote waving masses, it's actually a fresh, fun experience that's a decent new take on the long-running series.

No More Heroes - GI interviju

GI: When we talked last year, you were still trying to figure out exactly how you were going to be using the Wii’s remote functionality. What was the process like figuring out how to make it work?

Suda: In the very, very early stages of the concept, we had in mind that we didn’t want to just shake the controller. I knew that it wouldn’t work well. I knew that having you perform a combo with the button and having the final blow be one swing would be better. I’d heard that a lot of American users actually like shaking in every direction with the Wii’s remote, so I had some doubts at some point, too. I knew that to have a real refreshing and exciting action game you’d need to use the buttons at some point and that using the action to perform the finishing blow would be enough. We tried it both ways and watched people playing, and then I knew that I was right. Everyone was really excited to be playing it the way it was designed. If people had to swing the controller from the beginning to the end, they would get really, really tired.

Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles - preview

Umbrella Chronicles is an on-rails light-gun shooter set in the timeframe and locations of Resident Evil Zero, 1, 2 and 3. Starting at the Resident Evil Zero train, you are pulled through the original RE mansion, through the post-outbreak version of Raccoon City shown in RE2 and 3, and finally into the all-new Umbrella Headquarters facility. But it's not just a rehash of the same plot points you've already experienced. It's a re-imagining of the classic Resident Evil storyline from a perspective you've never seen before, and we don't just mean first-person. For the first time, you get a behind-the-scenes view of the story from Umbrella's perspective. You even get the skinny on what Albert Wesker was up to between his brief, enigmatic appearances in the original games.

NiGHTS : Journey of Dreams - preview

As I have no point of reference, I can’t say if Nights on Wii is looking to be an improvement or stagnation of this franchise. It is however an interesting take on a flying/racing game that was fun for the short time I had with it. I didn’t understand the fuss over Nights before TGS, but I came away seeing a hint of why people are charmed by the series.

Dewy's Adventure - prve impresije

To be quite honest, I wasn’t too sure to sure that I liked playing that way. I moved through the first level, and had a rather uneasy feeling about it all. As I continued on, that feeling melted away into a newfound enjoyment/respect for the controls. There’s no doubt that they take getting used to, and there will be times early on in the game where you wish you could just use a joystick. If you stick with the game, you’ll find that these tilt controls add a completely different element to the game.

Mushroom Men - interviju

From what I've seen, Mushroom Men is an intensely action driven game and the combat seems to be the cornerstone of the game. How are you going to incorporate the unique controls of the Wii remote into frantic gameplay?

The Wii Remote and Nunchuck need to be a usable interface to the game and, more specifically, to the combat. We’re really trying to get players to move away from waggling the Wii Remote to attack. So while you can waggle, and the character reacts to the waggle, there is much more incentive not to with a system we’re working on which allows attacks to be primed (for increased damage, and combos) before they’re executed. The attacks become deliberate. Combat, at a higher level, involves more strategy. And we’re having a lot of fun with this right now.

Chocobo Mysterious Dungeon - hands on

Mysterious Dungeon is so hardcore that it doesn't even use the Wiimote motion sensing. There will be some mini-games that use it, but the vast bulk of the main game is played holding the controller horizontally.

Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles - TGS impresije i video

While it won’t take the place of Resident Evil 5 (currently available only for Xbox 360 and PS3), this game offers an interesting experience that you can’t get on any other console. I’m a little weirded out by companies making these “side-games” on Wii (i.e. Soul Calibur Legends), but on the other hand they’re making these games specifically with the console in mind, and neither title is the throw-away, budget-style game they could have been. I look forward to playing each of these games in full, and it will be interesting to see how well they are received by Wii owners around the world.

Link's Crossbow Training+Zapper - press i kutija

veca slika

Link returns from The Legend of Zelda®: Twilight Princess to pick up the Wii Zapper and take aim at a host of targets in this shooting-gallery-style game.

* Anyone can pick up the Wii Zapper and become a master marksman in the quick-play shooting galleries of Link's Crossbow Training. Dozens of fast-paced stages offer a wide variety of game play, from shooting stationary targets to defending a supply wagon from onrushing hordes of enemies. Multiplayer modes let players and their friends share a Wii Zapper to shoot for the high score.

* Link's Crossbow Training comes bundled with the Wii Zapper. After a few rounds of Link's Crossbow Training, players will be more than ready to pick up any of the future Wii Zapper titles, like Medal of Honor Heroes™ 2, Ghost Squad™ and Resident Evil®: The Umbrella Chronicles.

Using the Wii Zapper: The Wii Zapper requires the Wii Remote and Nunchuk, housing both in a comfortable and intuitive frame. The control stick on the Nunchuk controls player movement (on stages that allow player movement), while simply aiming the Wii Zapper moves the targeting reticule on the screen. Pulling the trigger fires Link's crossbow. By aiming off screen, players can turn Link to face in a new direction (again, on stages that allow this).

Link's Crossbow Training contains three basic game styles: target shooting, defender and ranger. There are 27 stages in total, and these categories represent only generally how each individual stage operates. Each stage's goal is to earn the highest score possible within the time limit. All rounds can be played with multiple players: Players pass the Wii Zapper around and then play one at a time and compete for the high score.

Target Shooting: In target-shooting rounds, players shoot bull's-eyes as they pop up on the screen. In early stages, targets are stationary. As the game difficulty increases in later levels, the targets move. Hitting the center of the bull's-eye nets more points, and hitting targets in succession without missing earns combo multipliers. Link can aim anywhere on the screen.

Defender: In defender rounds, players remain stationary but can look and aim in all directions - sometimes even in a full 360 degrees - by aiming off screen. Hordes of enemies assault Link, and he must fight them off. These battles have a great deal of variety, from fighting off skeletons in a desert to defending a wagon from boar-riding Bokoblins.

Ranger: In ranger rounds, players can move throughout the level using the control stick and aim anywhere they want by aiming the Wii Zapper wherever they want to look. In these missions, Link storms enemy encampments, fights his way through a forest and seeks out his foes while exploring the environments.
